Upon winning a scholarship from Fulbright University in 1992, Amy decided to go to South Africa to aid in the country's efforts to end racial apartheid. She was murdered by four violent, angry protestors on August 26, 1993. Amy's parents, Peter and Linda Biehl have reconciled with the convicted murderers of their daughter, who now call Linda, "mom" and established the Amy Biehl Foundation, www.amybiehl.org.
